Automatic Steel Shot Blasting

Automatic shot blasting is an industrial process for preparing metal surfaces by means of the controlled projection of steel shot at high velocity. This method efficiently removes oxides, rust, mill scale, old paint and other contaminants, producing a clean, uniform surface with the appropriate surface profile for subsequent anti-corrosion treatments, such as thermal metal spraying or industrial coating.

Unlike manual blasting, automatic shot blasting ensures consistent quality, high productivity and complete uniformity of finish. It is essential for high-volume production and applications requiring strict technical accuracy and repeatability.

METALIZAREAL operates an automatic shot blasting machine equipped with 8 blast turbines, which continuously and uniformly propel steel shot onto the workpieces. The equipment offers the following features:

Overall dimensions: 41.00 m (length) × 2.80 m (width) × 1.00 m (height)

Blasting system: 8 strategically positioned turbines to ensure complete surface coverage

Continuous feed system: enables the processing of components in series, ensuring high production throughput

High production capacity: ideal for structural steel sections, steel plates, beams, fabricated steel structures and large industrial components

Automatic process control: conveyor speed, blasting intensity and steel shot recycling are adjusted according to the type of workpiece

Recovery and filtration system: collection, separation and reuse of the steel shot, combined with efficient dust extraction to maintain a clean and safe working environment

This equipment is capable of achieving surface cleanliness levels equivalent to Sa 2½ or Sa 3, in accordance with ISO 8501-1, ensuring optimal surface preparation for long-lasting protective coatings. The combination of power, precision and automation makes this process a highly efficient solution, reducing processing times while delivering a superior technical finish.
